Animal Farm Questions

1) What is your reaction to the animal’s revolution? Explain.

Well, in my opinion I think it’s correct to start a revolution when you are being subjected to torture, injustice and inhumane conditions. In this case, the animals were mistreated, they were exposed to hard work, the humans didn’t feed them frequently so in conclusion a revolution is the only way to stop with this tyranny.

2) Do you sympathize with the animal’s complaints and goals? Why? Why not?

Of course I do, all they want is to be treated in a nice way, to not be tortured, to be feeded frequently. All their goals are totally posible and they deserve them. Animals and humans deserves to be free, to have food, to be treated in a nice way.

3.- Describe how the rebelion takes place? How does the animal’s behaviour during the rebelion suggest human characteristics?

The rebellion takes place when they get rid of their owner called Jones, then they are free in some way, when they kick out all the humans in the farm.
The animals started to acquiere human characteristics, such as reading and writing. Napoleon, the pig who was in charge after Old Major died, started to drink alcohol, killing animals, dressing like a human and sleeping in beds. In other words, Napoleon started to became a “human”.

4) How do the pigs gain the rights to the cow’s milk? Why do the other animals allow this? What does this event suggest about power hierarchy on the farm?

Pigs, persuade the other animals telling them that they had to keep thinking about a better future of the farm, that it was animalism. So, the pigs became the leaders of the farm, establishing a hierarchy on it. The pigs were superior than the other animals in the hierarchy.

5) What is your reaction to Snowball’s expulsion from Animal Farm? Explain.

I saw it coming, it was obvious that the pigs to continue with their tyranny, they were going to get rid of Snowball. But I still felt sorry for the rest of the farm, he was the only one who stop the other pigs.

6) Identify three ways that Napoleon tries to solidify his leadership position on the farm. How does the process of decision making on the farm change under Napoleon’s leadership?

In first place, he solidify his leadership by expelling Snowball from the farm, showing to the animals propaganda where it shows that Napoleon was a great leader and having educated the puppies to obey him. When Napoleon was in charge the animals stopped having any power of decision and he started to rule in a tyrannical way.

7) Why do the executions take place? What message do these events send to the animals about their role in a future society?

To sustain the control on the farm, the pigs killed everyone who may became a possible rebel. The animals started to notice that when they stop being useful, they will be killed, just as their owner did.

8) Do you think it’s fair that those who are more educated or more skilled -like the pigs in Animal Farm have more influence on the decision making? Who makes the decisions in your family, community and nation?

Yes, I think it is. But only if they are specialized in an specific area of knowledge. For example, someone who studied medicine can diagnose a patient, while someone who don’ t have any knowledge on this area can’t. In my family the ones who takes the decisions, are my parents, in my community the Headmaster and in my country the president.

9) By te end of the film it can be suggested that the pigs and human political leaders are interchangeable. How might power change those who have it?

If they are not used to it, they will empower themselves and not rule properly, they will rule in a tyrannical way. We must remember that having power it brings the person who has it a great responsibility. If the person knows how to manage the power, he will make good use of it and rule with tolerance.

10) In your opinion are the pigs in Animal Farm more intelligent than all the other animals? What qualities enabled them to lead the others? Provide example that support your answer.

I think that the pigs were more intelligent and had a very good persuasive method. We can see that they were more intelligent because they were the first ones to learn how to read and write, and the persuasive method can be seen in the movie when they convinced the other animals that Snowball was a traitor. Another example is when they persuade the animals to give the milk for them.
