1) Describe Calpurnia as Scout depicts her in Chapter 1

Calpurnia was a near-sighted, she was all angles and bones, she squinted and her hand was wide as a bed slat and twice as hard. Scout had a tyrannical relationship with her, she was always ordering her and she put summer time boundaries to Scout and his brother.

2) What does Dill dare Jem to do?

He bet him that he wouldn’t get any farther than the Radley Place gate.

3) What events led to Arthur’s being shut into the house?

When he was young, he started to met some of the Cunninghams, and create the nearest thing to a gang seen in Maycomb. One night he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, assault and battery. His father didn’t want to send him to the Industrial State School, so he kept him in the house and the tribunal allowed that.

4) Maycomb is an old town, it has a rainy weather but sometimes it’s hot too, so grass grows on streets. Poeple move very slowly. They take their time for everything. There’s nowhere to go, nothing to buy and nothing to see. The residential streets are separated from the comercial ones.

5) The townspeople of Maycomb have some fears and superstitions about the Radley Place. Describe these fears and superstitions.

 

 The people cross through the other sidewalk, and the fruits that fell from the tree that was in the Radley Place would not be eaten or you’ll die. There were commited morbid crimes, although the culprit was Crazy Eddie, people still looked Radley Place with fear.

6) Whose idea was it to make Radley come out of the house?

It was Dill’s idea to make boo Radley come out of the house.

7) How important is bravery to Jim?

Very very imporant. He liked to looked like he can manage all things, and strong. He really didin’t want to accept Dill’s dare but if he didn’t he would look like a coward.
